I am writing to enlist support in saving the Sutter Lakeside Hospital”s Wellness Center from closing this year at the end of November.

I just wrote a letter to Siri Nelson, CAO of Sutter Lakeside Hospital for her reconsideration in closing this important community asset.

My wife and I have been using the Wellness Center facilities faithfully since late 2006, as much as three times per week.

I have especially enjoyed using the treadmill and various free weights. My wife has enjoyed using the Curves equipment, after her membership at Curves expired upon the closing of the Curves facilities in Middletown, Kelseyville, and Lakeport.

I having been running regularly since the 1980s, but as a result of the regular exercise routine at the Wellness Center, I have entered several 5K and 10K competitions, including finishing in first place in my age group in the 2013 5K Donut Run in Kelseyville (sponsored by the Lake County Milers running club). I also reached my goal of being able to run a six-minute mile pace for 3.5 miles at age 50 a few years ago. Using the Wellness Center has changed our lives for the better.
