LOWER LAKE — Their backs pressed to the wall, both in the match and in the North Central League I standings, the Lower Lake Trojans rallied for a big-time 15-25, 25-23, 15-13 junior varsity volleyball victory over the previously undefeated St. Helena Saints on Tuesday in Lower Lake.
Avenging their only league loss to date, a Sept. 26 setback at St. Helena, the Trojans improved to 8-1 on the season while joining St. Helena (8-1) atop the league standings. Both teams have five matches left.
“They were super excited,” Lower Lake coach Amanda Millsap said of her players” reaction to the come-from-behind win. “It was our best game yet, putting everything out there. I couldn”t have a better team.”
Jolean Scarborough powered the Trojans with seven kills and three blocks while Ashlynn Mock added four kills and three aces. Setter Vanessa Johnson had 10 assists and Alex Degraw contributed four aces.
“It was just a great match and a great win,” Millsap said.
