LOWER LAKE — The Southmen Quartet, a Southern gospel group, put on a show Oct. 9 at the Lucerne Community Church.
The group, which has been together since 1974, performed renditions of several old school gospel favorites.
Jim Hefner, one of the original founders of the quartet, entertained with his own brand of humor, Veronica Morgan stated. Lead singer Buddy Burton as well as bass player and vocalist, Johnny Washburn, blended with Hefner”s voice. Pianist and vocalist, Roy Bray, filled out the ensemble on the piano.
