LAKEPORT — A plan for a proposed special tax on the county and a loan for a sewer system project for Lakeside Heights were discussed Tuesday morning at the supervisors meeting.

The Lake County Board of Supervisors (BOS) discussed extensively and heard comments and suggestions from the public regarding Measure E, which would implement a special tax to raise funds that would be used exclusively on the maintenance and improvement of Clear Lake. The discussion will be revisited on during the next meeting on Nov. 5.

On request by the Lake County Sanitation District, three members of the BOS approved a $49,020 loan to complete a sewer relocation project in Lakeside Heights in Lakeport. The Board had previously approved a loan with a limit of $250,000 per project. The sewer relocation project will cost $299,020. Supervisor Rob Brown abstained from the vote and Supervisor Anthony Farrington was not present at the meeting until later.

Later in the meeting, the Board approved a deal with Court Appointed Special Advocate to help provide more volunteers for the program.

In other business, the BOS decided to postpone discussion for a proposed ordinance that will establish a fee schedule for Driving Under the Influence programs to the Nov. 5 meeting when more information is expected to be available on the subject. Discussion of a proposed Lake County comprehensive economic development strategy was also postponed to the next meeting.

The BOS also reviewed a suggestion by County Counsel Anita Grant to consider the Company Telephone Triage Nurse, which is designed to reduced the number of first aid claims by allowing injured employees to treat themselves with the advice of a telephone triage nurse and remove the necessity of a doctor.

In business regarding the Lake County Sheriff”s Office (LCSO), two consideration of requests presentations were carried to the Nov. 5 meeting. The LCSO”s requests involve funding for three vehicles and 12 Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team vests.
