LOWER LAKE — Lower Lake High School quarterback and defensive back Isazah King had a game he”ll remember the rest of his life on Friday night in Lower Lake where the Trojans blanked the Willits Wolverines 49-0 in North Central League I varsity football action.
King rushed for 59 yards, three touchdowns and a two-point conversion, passed for 138 yards and a two-point conversion, returned an interception 98 yards for a score, and a punt 80 yards for another touchdown as the Trojans won their first league game at the expense of the winless Wolverines (0-5, 0-8). He finished the night with two interceptions and a fumble recovery.
“As amazing as he was statistically, the biggest thing he did was be a leader,” Lower Lake coach Justin Gaddy said. “He stepped up as a leader. All of my captains did.”
Erick Moreno added 135 yards rushing and two touchdowns as Lower Lake snapped a four-game losing streak. Brenden Maninger had five catches for 131 yards.
Lower Lake”s defense notched its first shutout of the season, forcing three turnovers and coming up with two sacks.
“To have our defense pick up our first shutout of the year was huge,” Gaddy said.
“I”m very proud of the boys,” Gaddy added.
