MIDDLETOWN — The Gibson Museum has dealt with its termite problem and can now move forward with building plans.
Gibson Museum plans to encourage short-term loans rather than outright gifting of historic artifacts, according to Nina Bouska of the museum. It allows people who want to keep their precious heirlooms in the family to share them for a time with others who are interested in their history.
It will save the museum the expense of storing and preserving items that are not on display, Bouska stated.
Bob Kauffman is heading up the effort to get the building itself ready. He will need a crew to help work on removing the library shelves and prepare for painting the walls. They will also need to tackle other fix-ups such as dry rot that needs to be cleared around the big picture window, Bouska stated. Kauffman needs carpenters, electricians, plumbers and hard workers.
