LAKE COUNTY ? High winds began battering the county in the early afternoon Thursday and continued through the evening with power lines down, fires, trees through homes and in the roadways.

Many residents lost power beginning at about 3 p.m. with more than 25 separate power outages reported by PG&E.

The largest outage as of press time was reported at 3:44 p.m. impacting 4,862 PG&E customers, according to PG&E spokeswoman Jana Morris. The outage reportedly knocked out power in Clearlake Oaks and parts of Clearlake.

At 7:02 p.m. Morris reported another impacting 2,885 in Nice and Upper Lake.

A wildland fire was still burning in the area of Paradise Cove as of press time with at least five acres burned.

Lake County Record-Bee staff are updating the activity on the Facebook site as information becomes available.
