After being fed up with so many non-service dogs being in our big box store that also sells food products, I asked an associate why this was allowed. The response was that they feared lawsuits from people being told to remove the animals, even though it is posted that only service animals are allowed.
It is disgusting that the animals are allowed to sit in the carts that people put groceries into. Does the Health Department ever visit stores in our County, or are only restaurants held to these standards? I would imagine that if retailers were hit with health code violation fines they would not so much fear a lawsuit from enforcing policy.
