ALAMEDA — Abby Aden”s 25 points powered the undefeated Middletown High School junior varsity girls” basketball team to a 54-23 victory over St. Joseph Notre Dame in the opening round of the St. Joseph Notre Dame Tournament on Thursday in Alameda.
Despite improving to 8-0 on the season, Middletown coach Roxi Hoogendoorn said the Mustangs have plenty of room for improvement.
“We need to be playing a higher level of basketball as a team,” Hoogendoorn said.
Makenzi Smith scored 14 points for the Mustangs, who led 27-6 at halftime.
Middletown draws Saratoga or Alameda in the winner”s semifinals today at 4 p.m.
