
ROCKLIN — Fourteen members of the Upper Lake Junior Cougars wrestling squad participated in the Granite Bay Heat Wave Classic on Sunday at Sierra College in Rocklin. Additionally, two team members – Jose Fernandez III and his cousin, Aiden Dancer – attended a three-day training camp, NXT Level, that featured Olympic gold medalist Lance Palmer.
First-place medals at Rocklin went to Fernandez III and Benjamin Beecher.
Securing second-place medals were team members Gabriella Fernandez, Donavan Fernandez and William Henry. Third-place medals went to Dancer, Bradley Sneathen, who wrestled up a division, Andrew Brackett, Noah De Los Santos, Cody Snider and Mark Dutcher.
Fourth-place finishes went to Alexis Peregrina, who wrestled up a division, Hayden Fowler and Johnny Horton.
Next up for the Junior Cougars is the Massacre in the Mountains on Sunday at Argonaut High School in Jackson.
