Lions Club breakfast Feb. 9 benefits SAL

KELSEYVILLE ? The Kelseyville Lions Club is sponsoring a benefit breakfast for the Lake County Sheriff”s Activity League (SAL) on Feb. 9 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Kelseyville Lions Club on Sylar Lane.

The cost is $7 per person. All proceeds benefit the SAL, which provides positive activities for Lake County Youth, including boxing and Junior Giants baseball, theatre arts, kayaking, and other activities.

Southshore Little League sign-ups set

LOWER LAKE ? Southshore Little League will hold baseball and softball sign-ups tonight from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Pogo”s Pizza in Clearlake and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Redbud ballfields in Clearlake. A final sign-up is Sunday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Lower Lake High School gym.

Sign-up fees are $65 for the first player in a family and $50 for each additional sibling.

Please bring a certified copy of each player”s birth certificate, proof of physical address (such as a utility bill), and payment in the form of cash or check.

Volunteers, managers, coaches and umpires are needed.

Kosta, Tracy share low gross honors

BUCKINGHAM ? Members of the Buckingham Niners Men”s Golf Club played the back nine from the blue tees on Jan. 14, not that it mattered much to Frank Kosta, who fired the low gross round for a third week in a row.

Kosta shared low gross honors with Rick Tracy, both with rounds of 46.

Low net honors went to Jeff Loman with a 34.

Tracy and Mike Johnsen tied for low putts with 15. The lone chip-in of the day went to Tom Hughes, who knocked it in from off the green at No. 13.

MMA visits Konocti Vista Casino on Feb. 8

LAKEPORT ? Mixed Martial Arts is coming to Konocti Vista Casino on Feb. 8.

Presented by Jameson”s Gym in Lakeport, “The Night of the Warriors VI” features a lightweight tournament as well as both professional and amateur Mixed Martial Arts matches. Doors open at 5 p.m. and action begins at 6 p.m.

Sanctioned by the (IFC) International Fighting Council, “The Night of the Warriors VI” features local Lake County competitors including John O”Donnell, Keith Campbell, and Anthony Fernandez of Jameson”s Gym in Lakeport; Matt Weimar from Weimars Elite Cage Alliance in Lakeport; and Jeremy Bryant from Lucerne. Out-of-county competitors include Joaquin Lopez and Carlos Thompson of the Mendocino Training Center in Ukiah, and Mike Martucci, also from Ukiah.

Other professional and amateur fighters will be coming from throughout Northern California.
