ROCKLIN — The Upper Lake Junior Cougars sent 12 wrestlers to the Sacramento Area Wrestling Association Folkstyle Champion-ship on Sunday at the Hardwood Palace in Rocklin. Competitors from throughout the state and of all ages participated.

Leading the Junior Cougars was first-year wrestler Benjamin Beecher, who pinned all of his opponents to finish first. He won a plaque as well as a T-shirt.

Second-place finishes went to Bradley Sneathen, Donavan Fernandez, his younger sister Gabriella Fernandez, and their cousin, Aiden Dancer.

Placing third were Jose Fernandez III, Jimmy Sanchez, and Mark Dutcher. Fourth-place finishes went to Andrew Brackett, Hayden Fowler, Johnny Horton and Cody Banks.

The Upper Lake Junior Cougars return to action Saturday at the NorCal K-8 tournament in Windsor.
