UPDATED:

The California Water Rights is a coalition of cities that advocates for fair and reasonable water rates.

The collaboration of cities and communities that are facing huge and ongoing increases is growing.

Golden State Water is just one of the large private water companies in California.

Bills are filled with extra surcharges.

The WRAM surcharge is a mechanism that was approved by CPUC to make sure that the private water company makes a guaranteed profit. During the mandated state water conservation, the WRAM charges will increase.

Punitive charges for conserving water. These companies are traded on Wall Street and have a guaranteed rate of return paid by the ratepayers.

CPUC appears to be rife with conflict of interest between its role as a state agency that oversees the private utility companies and its role as a rate-setter for private utilities. There needs to be reform. The current system (CPUC) is broken.

There is no protection for the ratepayers of private water companies. Water rates in cities served by private water companies are usually two-times and three-times higher than surrounding areas.

With water rates reaching all time highs in the cities that they serve, something has to be done to protect the ratepayers.

To make a change, we need each city to join forces and lobby for that change

Please join the efforts. Contact me at: walczak55@comcast.net for additional information.

There is power and strength in numbers.

Together, with the persistence of other cities, we can and will make a difference.
