Lake County residents should be advised about the possibility of a serious drought affecting us this year, even with the current rain there is more than a certainty that water will become a target of water thieves.
Last year, $400 worth of water was stolen from my rental in Lucerne while my tenants were out of town.
These thieves, most likely pot growers, during late evening hours, backed down the driveway and used my tenants own garden hose to relieve them of expensive water. Most of us have certainly noticed pickup trucks with square reinforced water tanks in the back, traveling around the county.
Fortunately while I was remodeling this rental, one previous attempt was thwarted because I had the water shut off at the meter and they could not locate it.
I would strongly suggest that residents not leave their hoses out and shut their water meters off and locked when leaving town.
