I”m come to understand that America isn”t a land of opportunities anymore because it has become a land full of contamination. People don”t seem to care about their planet at all. We have allowed our government to side with companies for profit, when what we should really be doing is taking care of the planet and by doing so we need to change our views in politics.
I know that there are many important issues like: healthcare, abortion, immigration, etc. However, shouldn”t our most important issue be protecting the planet that lets us exist? How can we care so little about that which has provided for our families. Global warming isn”t getting any better and we aren”t doing as much as we should to help our planet flourish for generations to come. We are so caught up with materialistic things that we are forgetting the most important things: clean air, pure water, and healthy fruits and vegetables.
America needs to inform its people on the damage that is being done to the environment, so that we can begin acting now and not when it”s too late. As our past president Theodore Roosevelt once said “Here is your country. Cherish these natural wonders, cherish the natural resources, cherish the history and romance as a sacred heritage, for your children and your children”s children. Do not let selfish men or greedy interests skin your country of its beauty, its riches or its romance.”
