I read with great enthusiasm the article about District Attorney Don Anderson”s office likely obtaining the 3-D laser scanning system for all crime and accident scene investigations.

By doing so, this will basically eliminate pictures, diagrams and video that would normally have been done by a team. Now the scene will be 3-D recorded, putting the jury right there at the scene without leaving the jury box. Best of all, it will save time and energy, makes the investigative process easier and it is preserved forever.

The cost is $66,000, and our two small departments (Clearlake and Lakeport) pitched in a total of $15,000.

The Sheriff”s department, you ask? Oh, Rivero doesn”t want to play with the big boys, he wants to make his detectives work for their keep.
