MIDDLETOWN — Johnny Kelley pitched a five-hitter and struck out seven as the Middletown High School junior varsity baseball team beat the Willits Wolverines 10-4 in North Central League I action on Tuesday in Middletown.
It was the league opener for the Mustangs (1-0, 4-2).
Kelley also helped his own cause, going 2-for-4 with a RBI. Tyler Showen went 2-for-3 with a triple and Rob Carey went 2-for-4 with a RBI. Dean Bradley added a double and scored twice.
“We ran the bases really well,” Middletown coach Jon Hoogendoorn said.
The Mustangs are scheduled to play Friday in Fort Bragg at 4 p.m.
