LAKE COUNTY — Lake County wineries will pour their award-winning wines at the spring San Francisco (SF) Vintners Market on April 12 and 13 at Fort Mason.

Participation in this event is organized by the Lake County Winery Association (LCWA), with support from the Lake County Winegrape Commission.

“This is a wonderful way for us to take Lake County wines out of Lake County,” LCWA Director Terry Dereniuk said. “The SF Vintners Market hosts over 150 wineries for a two-day tasting and purchasing event twice a year. This year, we decided to make a big splash by bringing over half of our wineries to the event.”

Seventeen Lake County wineries will be featured at the event, including Bullion Creek, Chacewater Wines, Fore Family Vineyards, Gregory Graham Winery, Hawk and Horse, Langtry Estate & Vineyard and Laujor Estates. Also participating will be Moore Family, Olof Cellars, Rosa d”Oro, Shannon Ridge, Shed Horn, Six Sigma, Smiling Dogs Ranch, Sol Rouge Winery, Thorn Hill and Wildhurst.

The SF Vintners Market was started by the founders of Wine 2.0, Cornelius Geary and Jeffrey Playter. With market conditions dire for smaller wineries, Geary and Playter realized the need for vintners to get even closer to their customers and offer their wines to larger audiences than those found in small tasting rooms in wine country, according to Terry Dereniuk.

LCWA works to promote the wines of Lake County”s high-elevation region. Membership is open to wineries, winegrape growers and individuals or businesses interested in promoting the Lake County wine industry.
