SANTA ROSA — Empire College School of Law will host a free-of-charge, informational seminar for those considering a law school education at the college campus from 6:30 to 8 p.m. April 29. The keynote speaker will be R. Ryan Wilber, attorney at law.

Wilber is a Sonoma County resident and attended Santa Rosa Junior College. He graduated in 2005 with majors in criminal justice and political science. While attending Empire College School of Law, Wilber worked full-time in the commercial lending industry and was a law clerk for several criminal defense and civil litigators. Wilber also spent time as a law clerk for the Mendocino County Public Defender”s Office.

After working as an attorney for several practitioners, Wilber opened a boutique criminal, personal injury and family law practice with his wife, Rachel. Wilber has litigated issues involving the division of high-dollar assets in dissolution of marriage matters, computer forensic analysis and investigation in computer crimes, medical cannabis defense and law enforcement use of force cases.

Empire College School of Law, founded in 1973, has achieved the highest bar exam pass rate of all California accredited law schools since 2000, according to Sherie L. Hurd of Empire College. Its alumni comprise approximately 25 percent of the Sonoma County Bar and include members of the judiciary in Sonoma, Napa, Mendocino, Lassen and Merced counties.
