CLEARLAKE — The Clearlake City Council unanimously accepted a letter of resignation from City Attorney Malathy Subramanian Thursday.
A request for proposals for legal services was also unanimously approved because of Subramanian”s resignation.
The resignation will be effective in 60 days, according to City Manager Joan Phillipe.
“The timeline is very tight to secure proposals from other firms and that 60 days will go by very quickly,” Phillipe said.
Lake County Director of Public Works Scott De Leon gave a presentation regarding Measure L, which is a transaction and use tax that would fund lake-related programs that will appear on the June 3 ballot.
The tax would impose a 0.5-percent increase to help fund water quality, aquatic invasive species and nuisance aquatic weed and algae programs, which will be run by the Watershed Protection District. If accepted, the tax is expected to generate $2.4 million per year, according to De Leon.
In other business, the council discussed an amendment to the Lake County Youth Services (LCYS) Youth Center lease, which would provide use of the Highlands Senior Service Center for fundraisers free-of-charge.
No action was taken by the board, as clarification on legal stipulations was required.
