LAKE COUNTY ? Lake County Undersheriff Patrick Turturici said Thursday he accepted the position of Yolo County Juvenile Hall Superintendent. He will begin with Yolo County on May 5. Turturici”s last day at the Lake County Sheriff”s Office (LCSO) is Tuesday. Turturici was in charge of the jail.

Lake County Sheriff Frank Rivero did not return calls or emails to the Record-Bee to provide information about who will replace Turturici.

Turturici cited family reasons for his departure. His wife and son live in Hollister and he said the traveling became cumbersome.

“I want to thank everyone in Lake County,” Turturici said. “The people in Lake County are some of the nicest people I have ever met. I want to thank the Lake County Board of Supervisors, County Counsel Anita Grant, Human Resources Director? Kathy Ferguson, Matt Perry and Alan Flora. They were all so professional and wonderful to work with.”

Turturici said he is especially grateful to LCSO Capt. Chris Macedo, whom he referred to as “a great partner.” He said the LCSO personnel did a great job and were very personable and professional. He said the two lieutenants did a great job at the Lake County Hill Road Correctional Facility, as well.

Turturici said during his tenure he was able to do a lot with assistance and collaboration from the Board of Supervisors, Perry and Flora, among others. “We were able to do a lot with remodeling and making the jail a safer place. We”re in a better place than before I got here,” he added.

Turturici said he was grateful to Rivero for giving him the opportunity to come to this great county and meet such wonderful people. “It is with a heavy heart that I am leaving,” he said.

Turturici provided the LCSO with a standard two-week notice.
