LAKE COUNTY — Lake County Theatre Company”s (LCTC) production of “Beauty is a Beast!” is in rehearsals with a cast of more than 20 people and a musical soundtrack by keyboard stylist David Neft.
The music “will probably pull people right out of their seats to start dancing,” Neft said. “Everybody knows that music is essential to a great show, and I am bringing that music to this one.”
LCTC is no stranger to collaborations with Neft who provided musical support for the company”s productions of both “Wizard of Oz” and “Christmas Carol.”
“It is something that I love to do when I can find the time,” Neft added. “I believe that you can”t go for more than a few minutes in any show without music, and I am just happy I can squeeze this show into my schedule.”
“Beauty is a brand new story line, not the traditional ?Beauty and the Beast” of Disney movie fame,” Co-Director Toni Stewart said. “We wanted to bring the area a laugh-out-loud comedy, which demonstrates the hazards of being beautiful, not the tired old fairytale. This is a completely different production.”
Beauty is a Beast! will be performed June 13 and 14 at 7 p.m. and June 15 at 2 p.m. at The Moose Lodge in Clearlake Oaks and June 20 and 21 at 7 p.m. and June 22 at 2 p.m. at the Lakeport Senior Activity Center. The June 14 and June 21 showings will include dinner beginning at 5:30 p.m.
