LAKEPORT — The Lakeport Yacht Club will sponsor two events to be held on Saturday and Sunday and will give the public the opportunity to enjoy the lake and learn about the club.
On Saturday, a lake cleanup day will be held, starting at 1 p.m. Anyone with a kayak or small boat is welcome to participate. Areas will be assigned for kayakers or small boaters so they can pick up debris from the shoreline. Participants will then take the trash to the club”s power boats that will be close by to take the trash to shore. A barbecue will be held after the cleanup in appreciation of volunteers.
On Sunday, the club will hold the first in its series of First Sunday Sails, to be held the first Sunday of every month, from 3 to 6 p.m. Participants can sail and will be offered burgers for $10. First-time sailors are encouraged to attend and learn how to handle a sailboat.
Attendees should meet at the Lakeport Yacht Club located at 15 Fifth St. in Lakeport for both events.
