CLEARLAKE — The Lake County Office of Education (LCOE) will offer a Medical Assistant Training Program beginning in August.
Students will complete a 10-month program that includes externships with a variety of local physicians. Upon completion of the program and the state exam, students will be licensed medical assistants in both front and back office procedures.
The program participants will meet Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturdays.
LCOE will continue to offer its Certified Nurse Assistant Training Program with a new group starting in August. The three-month program will meet Monday and Wednesday evenings and Saturdays. Students will be eligible to take their state license exam at the completion of the course.
In addition to the medical classes, LCOE will also continue to operate its 14-station computer lab in Clearlake. For $25 per month, students have access to the lab to work at their own pace, improving skills in a variety of computer programs and in basic subjects such as math and reading. Students of all skill levels are welcome and will be guided by an instructor while working through the self-directed study. The facility is also an approved test site for exams.
