Lake County District Attorney race
Hit: Incumbent Don Anderson and candidate Andre Ross faced off in a heated debate Thursday evening in Middletown where members of the public directly asked the candidates questions.
Miss: A pro-Ross member of the audience made profane gestures toward the moderator.
District 3 Lake County Supervisor race
Hit: Voters got to hear the plans and opinions of the six candidates for the District 3 supervisor seat Monday evening at a forum held in the Lake County Supervisors Chambers at the Lake County Courthouse.
Undersheriff
Hit: Former Lake County Sheriff”s Office (LCSO) Capt. Chris Macedo was named interim undersheriff. He will remain in the position until further notice.
Miss: Macedo was promoted after former undersheriff Patrick Turturici resigned from the position.
Great-great-grandmother to graduate
Hit: Janet Leonor, 79, will earn her high school diploma on May 29, more than 65 years after she started high school.
Saving water
Hit: The Lake County Board of Supervisors approved a fund-transfer to repair a broken valve in a reservoir that was reported “leaking a few gallons a minute,” according to Special District”s administrator Mark Dellinger.
Farmers” Market
Hit: Local farmers will return to the premier farmers” market to stock up Lake County residents and others with locally-grown fruits and vegetables today.
Fire
Miss: An Upper Lake fire Wednesday night destroyed a home and an outbuilding and damaged another outbuilding.
Hit: Authorities said the buildings appeared to be abandoned and no injuries were reported.
Credit card arrests
Miss: Two people allegedly fraudulently used a credit card that had been reported lost.
Hit: The two suspects were later found and arrested by Lakeport Police Department officers and charged with at least five felony counts each.
Drug arrest
Hit: LCSO narcotics agents arrested a man and confiscated methamphetamine, LSD, mushrooms and marijuana during the serving of a search warrant.
Miss: Information regarding the arrest was not released until Wednesday, six days after the arrest took place.
Bass tournament
Hit: The Lakeport City Council approved the application for a bass fishing tournament that will be held on May 17.
Missing sex offenders arrested
Hit: Two sex offenders who were reported missing by the LCSO after they allegedly failed to register as sex offenders were arrested on Wednesday and Thursday.
Miss: Requests to the LCSO for information made on Wednesday about the arrests went unresponded. Information about the arrests was not released until Friday afternoon.
Out-of-county mail thefts
Miss: Two people from Clearlake were arrested in connection with a string of mail thefts in Pope Valley and Chiles Valley after a month-long investigation by the Napa County Sheriff”s Office.
Hit: Napa County Sheriffs shared the information in a press release promptly after the arrests.
