I support Bob Chalk for sheriff. I have known Bob for more than 20 years and have found him to be honest, trustworthy and very capable of working with others. Bob is a successful businessman and a proven professional policeman and administrator. As a police chief, Bob Chalk reduced crime and has earned the respect of his officers and law abiding community members. Bob Chalk has the skills needed to quickly return the sheriff”s department into a professionally run organization and return the sheriff”s position to one that is respected and effective as a leader in the field of law enforcement.
I retired from the California Highway Patrol in 1995 after 30 years of service. I was the commander of the Eureka office with the rank of captain. Prior to my time in Eureka, I was the CHP commander in Lake County and chose this county as my retirement home. I have met with and worked with many sheriffs from different counties in the state and found them all to be cooperative and professional in the shared desire to ensure public safety. We deserve a sheriff who understands that he or she is a leader and to achieve success must work cooperatively with all of the agencies he or she comes in contact with. Bob Chalk is that person and has my vote.
