
CARUTHERS — Seven members of the Punishers Wrestling Club of Lower Lake attended a freestyle and Greco tournament last weekend at Caruthers High School and all seven came away with medals.
Taking first-place medals in both freestyle and Greco were JJ Cushman in the 90-pound novice division and Austin Fredrickson in the 55-pound intermediate division. Cushman went 3-0 in both styles while Fredrickson went 4-0 in freestyle and 1-0 in Greco.
Blake Fredrickson finished second in freestyle in the 77-pound schoolboy division, going 2-1. His only loss was to Jonathan Viveros of Dethrone, the reigning California Greco State Champion.
Other freestyle seconds went to Jonathan Fredrickson in the 55-pound novice division and Arturo Gudino in the 37-pound pee-wee division.
Bryan Gudino added a third-place medal in freestyle in the 55-pound novice division.
In Greco competition, Jonathan Fredrickson won the 55-pound novice division and Adam Viramontes won the 75-pound intermediate division.
Bryan Gudino added a second-place medal.
The Punishers head to the Thunderbolt Classic in San Jose next weekend and will be walking in the Lower Lake Days Parade on May 25. After that, it”s Freestyle State on June 6-8 to wrap up the season.
