UPDATED:

In this era of being fashionable and having a bucket list, I found that I had managed to fulfill most of my own dreams and was pretty happy in doing so. I didn”t find adding any new ones to be of any great desire. But, while enjoying this gift of life, as I sat outside viewing the beauty of the lake and its surroundings, one more desire came to my mind that would delight me. I”ve experienced many great events over the years and the good feelings that came with them. But one dream has cropped up that would add another degree of pleasure.

I witnessed with great hope, and pride in our citizenry, the election of our first black President. Those opposing his success, who have blocked the possible greatness that he might have brought to the past six years, has taken away some of the high hopes, and reasonable achievements I had hoped for from him. He broke the glass ceiling for his race. He grew up for a time in Hawaii, with its many wonderfully different views about living where people are exposed to many different cultures. He came from a broken home, had parents from different cultures than the norm, and had a chance to live in countries so different than most of our fellow citizens, which added to his value and understanding in leading our modern nation. He is highly educated, and has a law degree with a major in Constitutional law. He began his career serving a sector of those less fortunate. He brought a wonderful family with a strong life-mate and two fine children to the Capital, which adds to the positive side of being the leader of the free world. The loss of his possible true greatness, due to a conservative party who, from the beginning, wanted and worked at defeating the progressive achievements he might have accomplished has left me wondering how different it might have been. I have waited a lifetime for our country to lead the advances into the future. History is on our side. Progress and understanding are inevitable, so why drag our feet, when it”s just a matter of time ?til we smarten up, modernize and appreciate and enrich the lives of all. I added the following dream to my bucket list. It would be great to see Obama selected and accept a position on the Supreme Court. There his talents, life experiences and education might bring to my grandkids a better life, built on greater tolerances and fairer play for all our citizens to enjoy and be proud of. It would put a person on the bench who was twice elected to the highest office and has compassion and wisdom to help guide our nation on a path that modern and future eras will surely need. We each only live once and it should be a good life for all. We have the power to change our society and create our own future.
