
RENO — The Lake-port Basketball Club fifth-grade boys” team won its division last weekend at the Jam on It Memorial Day AAU Tournament in Reno.
The club entered a total of eight teams in the tournament, ranging from fifth- through ninth-graders and including boys and girls from Lakeport, Upper Lake and Kelseyville. The club”s goal is to expose Lake County players to a higher level of competition, which will make them better middle school and high school players.
The club”s fifth-grade boys” team posted a 3-1 record. After losing 46-33 to Bay City Basketball in its first game, it went on to beat Jam on It Basketball 54-28, North Bay Basketball Academy 43-35 and the CC Warriors in the championship game, 30-24.
The Lakeport Basketball Club sent teams to a total of six tournaments this spring, beginning with Rocklin and ending in Reno.
Adrian Perez and Russ Gordon Sr. coached the fifth-grade boys” squad. Players were Lukas Kalawaina, Treppa Marcks, Jasper Ford, Johnny Salmeron, A.J. Adams, Justin Williams, Donvain Valadez, Jack Daskam and Russ Gordon Jr.
