COBB — The use permit application for Hoberg”s Resort is being reviewed by agencies throughout the state.
Comments from approximately 20 agencies, which include Caltrans, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, the California Department of Public Health and local tribes, are anticipated to be received in three weeks, according to Community Development Director Richard Coel.
Along with the permit application, Lake County Partners, LLC, submitted a project overview narrative, as well as a site plan map detailing the group”s plans for the property.
After comments are received, an environmental analysis will be performed based on feedback from the agencies, Coel said. A public hearing regarding the application will then be held by the Lake County Planning Commission.
“They”ve got a good plan and a good vision for the site,” Coel said. “It is pretty diverse. There are a lot of similarities to the Konocti Harbor plans.”
“Before they get any permits to remodel or demolish they are going to have to have an asbestos inspection,” Coel added.
According to Lake County Partners, LLC, Managing Member Silvester Rabic, plans for the property will be broken into four phases over the course of several years.
The first phase of the project will include asphalt repair work, landscaping, fencing, general cleanup and maintenance, as well as renovating and opening 15 guest rooms, a spa, fitness center and deli, according to Rabic.
“Prior to demolition, all asbestos testing will be done and permits will be obtained,” Rabic stated.
Timeshare condos and chalet models will be included in phase two, Rabic added. The main lodge restaurant, ballroom, wine tasting room and bar are also planned for the second phase.
Hoberg ”s Resort was purchased by Lake County Partners, LLC, in April. Cobb Mountain Partners, LLC, purchased the property in July 2010 with plans to renovate the property and open it as a club, resort, concert venue and filming site.
But the resort has yet to open and accrued numerous lawsuits against its former manager, Dan Nelson, and former owners, Cobb Mountain Partners, LLC.
Lake County Partners, LLC, paid off multiple liens filed against the property, as well as $100,000 in back property taxes, after escrow closed in April.
A settlement conference for one case against Nelson will be held on 1:30 p.m. June 17 in Department 4.
The trial date is set for 8:15 a.m. on July 23.
Nelson is charged with one count of burning without a permit and two counts of failure to secure payment of compensation.
All charges are misdemeanors.
