LAKEPORT — The 1941 detective mystery classic, “The Maltese Falcon,” will be screened at the Soper Reese Community Theatre on June 10 with show times at 1 and 6 p.m.
The film stars Humphrey Bogart, Peter Lorre and Mary Astor and marks the film debut of Sydney Greenstreet and the directorial debut of John Huston. The movie is considered to be the first in the film noir genre and was nominated for three Academy Awards.
The story follows a San Francisco private detective and his dealings with three unscrupulous adventurers, all of whom are competing to obtain a jewel-encrusted falcon statuette.
