MIDDLETOWN — A grand opening will be held for Middletown”s “Friday Night Live!” community market from 4 to 8 p.m. tonight at the Middletown Senior Center, Middletown Library and nearby park plaza.

The opening event will feature a permaculture booth mini-workshop at 4 p.m. and live music performed by “The Peculiars” at 5 p.m.

The market is scheduled to be open every Friday night until mid-October and is sponsored by Middletown”s organic producer Golden Rocks Permaculture Farm, Hidden Valley Lake”s Rare Earth Beauties and Kelseyville”s Ancient Lake Gardens. It is also endorsed by the Middletown Area Town Hall (MATH) and Middletown”s Senior Center. The nonprofits are collaborating with the sponsoring farms to ensure that the market remains as local as possible and that the seniors of the community are well-served, Quintero stated.

The organizers are still seeking artists, local shops, cottage food industry product sellers and food booths of all kinds, in addition to activist groups that would want to represent themselves at the community market. For vendor information, contact Quintero of Golden Rocks Permaculture Farm at 987-8719.

There are no fees for vendors; expenses to run the market will be handled via donations from the general community and a passing of a basket during the market, according to Quintero.

The market will be located at the Middletown Senior Center and Middletown Library plaza at the corner of Highway 29 and Douglas Street in Middletown. Parking will be available on Douglas Street at the senior center.
