LAKEPORT — Mackey Tire Center is getting a name change along with new owners, Ric and Marci Davis.
On May 1, the Davises purchased the business from Hugh Mackey, the original owner who opened the business in 1973. While the Davises say the staff and services will remain the same, the name will change to “Davis Tire and Auto Repair.”
“It”s going to be business as usual, only better,” Marci said.
When the business went up for sale, the Davises saw their opportunity for ownership, according to Ric.
“I”ve always had the hope of owning my own automotive business one day,” Ric said. “And then the perfect opportunity came.”
Ric has been working at Mackey Tire Center for 14 years, first as a mechanic and then as the general manager for the last five years.
Marci is new to the business though. As a co-owner, she will be doing bookkeeping for the company.
Davis Tire and Auto Repair will hold a grand opening on June 17 from 6 to 9 p.m. Bicoastal Media will do a live remote broadcast from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. for the event. Additionally, Tim Kesser, chef of the Riviera Hills Restaurant, will serve appetizers and refreshments and coupons for free-of-charge oil changes will be given out to the first 100 people who arrive at the grand opening, beginning at 6 p.m.
