KELSEYVILLE >> Kyle Schmidt, a 2014 graduate of Kelseyville High School, has been awarded with a $1,000 scholarship as part of Mediacom Communications” World Class Scholarship Program.
The award recognizes the Kelseyville resident for outstanding leadership and academic accomplishments, according to Alexandra Swanson, Mediacom public relations coordinator.
The company annually gives $1,000 scholarships to 60 graduating seniors to provide support for the students” post-secondary education, Swanson stated. The scholarship was presented to Schmidt during the high school”s recognition program.
“As a technology company, Mediacom understands how important it is to invest in future leaders like Kyle Schmidt,” Mediacom”s senior manager for area operations, Shawn Swatosh said. “I”m proud that my company supports local students with scholarship support.”
More than 1,500 students applied for the scholarships, Swanson stated. This is the 13th consecutive year Mediacom has funded World Class Scholarships for students who live in areas served by the cable and broadband company. To receive the Mediacom scholarships, recipients must attend an accredited two-year or four-year college, university or technical school within the United States.
High school administrators will be notified in the fall of when scholarship applications become available online for students in the class of 2015.
