LAKEPORT >> The 53rd quilt block sponsored by area Girl Scouts was installed on the Lake County Quilt Trail (LCQT) at the former Mackey Tire, which is now Davis Tire and Auto Center.
The 8-by-8-foot quilt block is called “Friendship” and was sponsored by the Lakeport-Kelseyville Girl Scout Troop No. 10304. The four members picked the colors for its design and paid for the quilt block with earnings from selling cookies and fall products.
The Friendship quilt block was chosen to make the connection that the Girl Scouts organization is about building friendships and helping make the community a better place, Annette Higday, of the LCQT, stated.
The LCQT is an agricultural and tourism project designed to promote community pride, she added.
The quilt block was drawn and painted by the LCQT team, a group of quilters, graphic artists, painters, writers, carpenters and a videographer.

The Friendship block is located at 2101 S. Main St. in Lakeport.
