LAKEPORT >> Lake County Farm Bureau (LCFB) will hold its annual Forklift Safety Training at Mt. Konocti Winery on July 2 from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

People who will be driving forklifts for the harvest season are encouraged to attend the free-of-charge training seminar, which is hosted by LCFB and the State Compensation Insurance Fund (SCIF).

The seminar will be conducted by staff from SCIF in both English and Spanish.

Trainings will include formal classroom instruction and a pre-test for informational purposes only. Videos will be shown that cover the importance of operating conditions, the need for caution around vehicle and pedestrian traffic, recognizing special hazards, proper load manipulation and conducting equipment inspections. Interactive segments will further enhance the knowledge base of attendees, Claudia Street, the executive director of LCFB, stated. Handouts will be provided for further reference.

LCFB”s goal is to provide a safe working environment during the harvest season, Street stated.
