KELSEYVILLE >> Hip-hop group K-Town will perform its first show as co-headliners tonight.

The group will be performing at the Konocti Vista Casino with Oakland-based hip-hop artists D-Lo.

“If this show has a good turn-out, it will open the door for bigger opening acts,” K-Town member Taj Dedrick, 22, said.

Guilty by Association, Boo Mendo, Monkey Island and Lil Chris will also perform at the 21 and older show.

This will be the groups second show this month, having opened for T-Pain in Ukiah on June 8.

Dedrick began writing music when he was 14 years old. He began performing rap and hip-hop three years later, when he formed K-Town with his brother, Jay Dedrick.

“The family bond makes it so much easier to write,” Taj said. “We don”t really argue.”

Having grown up with each other, Taj said they how each other works through the creative process.

“We know when someone needs to be left alone to write their lyrics, or when they need input,” he said.

“I wouldn”t want to be in any other group,” Taj added.

Additionally, Taj said the group is opening a recording studio in July, which will be called K-Otic Studios.

“We want anyone in the community who uses music as an outlet to be able to put together a demo,” he said.

Doors open for the concert at 8 p.m., with the show starting 9 p.m. Tickets cost $15.

Konocti Vista Casino is located at 2755 Mission Rancheria Road in Lakeport.
