KELSEYVILLE >> The 56th quilt block on the Lake County Quilt Trail (LCQT) titled “State Park Bear Paw” has been installed at the Clear Lake State Park.
President of the Clear Lake State Park Interpretive Association Madelene Lyon spearheaded the project to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the California State Park System.
The traditional quilt designs of a bear paw and flying geese were used in the block using the blue colors of the Pacific and golds of the county”s rolling hills.
The Clear Lake State Park was established in the 1940s as a result of the donation of land by Nellie Dorn.
The park crew worked to mount the quilt block on the office building at the front gate.
The LCQT is an agricultural and tourism project designed to promote community pride. The 8-by-8 foot quilt block was drawn and painted by the LCQT team, a group of quilters, graphic artists, painters, writers, carpenters and a videographer.
