LAKEPORT >> The Lakeport Yacht Club will sponsor the sixth annual Cardboard and Duct Tape Regatta on July 4 to be held at Library Park near the Third Street launch ramp across from TNT Restaurant.
Sign up starts at 9:30 a.m. and the races will start at 11 a.m.
Participating boats must be made entirely out of duct tape and cardboard but can be made in any design or size. Paddles may be made out of any material. All participants are required to wear life jackets and must be in their boat at the end of the race to qualify for a prize.
Three age groups will compete:
• Children ages 6 to 11 (parents may assist but not propel the boat)
• Teens 12 to 19
• Adults 20 and older
Trophies will be awarded for first, second and third place in each age group as well as a trophy for the crowd”s favorite boat.
The event is free-of-charge.
