Clearlake >> Lake Community Pride Foundation (LCPF) will host its fourth annual Power to the Youth at Austin Park on Aug. 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“The event brings together the community with the intent to empower our youth and young families with the tools and knowledge on how to succeed,” according to Bruno Sabatier.

The event will feature live music such as Cosmic Tea, As All Else Fails and Corey Snipes.

Sporting activities and competitions will be held as well. There will be a skate park competition, basketball tournament, flag football, softball and frisbee golf.

Throughout the event, there will be agency booths offering activities and information including educational booths, health care booths, political booths and more — all meant to empower the families in the community with the support to succeed, Sabatier stated.

For young children there will also be a variety of bouncy houses to choose from.

The event is free-of-charge.

The committee organizing the event is looking for volunteers to help, as well as participants for the sporting activities and for booths that can provide more activities for attendees to take part in.

Contact Sabatier if interested in participating. He can be reached at 695-0834 or via email at bsabatier@hotmail.com.

LCFP is a nonprofit group that has been responsible for the success of the Safe House, a teen shelter for homeless or troubled youth, Sabatier stated. LCPF has also been a supporter of the youth performing arts programs offered at Lower Lake High School.

“Lastly, LCPF”s Power to the Youth is an opportunity to bring all of our community together in unity to increase the pride and the future of our youth,” Sabatier stated.
