CLEARLAKE >> A motorcyclist sustained major injuries after a crash on Saturday.

Just before 6:30 p.m. Clearlake Police Department (CPD) officers and medical personnel from the Lake County Fire Protection District (LCFPD) responded to a reported vehicle versus pedestrian collision on Old Highway 53 near Airport Road, according to CPD Sgt. Tim Hobbs. Once at the scene, it was discovered that the crash actually only involved a single motorcycle occupied by David Pratt, of Clearlake.

Pratt, 55, was reportedly traveling southbound on Old Highway 53 just north of Airport Road when, for unknown reasons, the motorcycle traveled off the west roadway edge and hit a tree, Hobbs stated.

The motorcycle sustained moderate damage and Pratt sustained major injuries. He was briefly treated at the scene and then transported by LCFPD personnel to a landing zone at Ray”s Food Place, Hobbs stated. Pratt was then transported by a Calstar air ambulance to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.

Old Highway 53 between Airport Road and Lakeview Way was closed for approximately 45 minutes.
