LAKEPORT >> Cowboys and cowgirls between the ages of 4 and 8 are being sought to participate in the mutton bustin” competition at the 85th annual Lake County Rodeo.

The competition will take place between 6 and 7 p.m. on July 11 and 12 at the Lake County Fairgrounds.

Contestants should wear a long sleeve shirt, jeans, sturdy boots or shoes and a properly-sized helmet. Each rider will receive a mutton bustin” T-shirt. Each night, the child who has the longest ride of the night will receive a silver buckle, sponsored by CJS Ranch Supply.

The entry fee to compete costs $10 and space is limited. Contestants should weigh in at no more than 50 pounds on the day of their ride. Admission to the rodeo for children 12 and younger is free-of-charge with a paid adult.

Applications are available at CJS Ranch Supply in Middletown, Barreda”s Lower Lake Feed in Lower Lake and Rainbow Ag and Lake County Chamber of Commerce in Lakeport or online at www.lakecountyrodeo.com.
