LAKEPORT >> The Lakeport Women”s Civic Club (LWCC) presented its biggest community support donations for the year at its luncheon and meeting held at the Riviera Hills Country Club Restaurant on June 6, according to LWCC member Tricia Frazer.

Caroline Denny, director of the Northlake Adult Day Care in Lucerne, received a check for $2,000 to support the work that her organization does in Lake County. Irehne Dishman, president of the Friends of the Library, accepted a check for $10,000 on behalf of the Lake County Library District to supplement needed materials for the county library services. Additionally, the Lake County Honor Team received two donations from the LWCC to support its work providing military honors at funerals for Lake County veterans. The team received a check for $500 and a surprise award of $10,000 made possible by accrued interest on the certificate of deposit from the sale of the LWCC clubhouse several years ago.

The Lakeport Women”s Civic Club hosts fundraising events throughout the year in order to make donations to various charitable organizations, scholarships and projects throughout Lake County. In addition to the donations presented here, the LWCC also budgeted funds this year to support Sponsoring Survivorship, the Record-Bee Christmas Basket Fund, Lakeport Fire Protection District Toy Drive and two high school scholarship awards of $1,000 each.

The Mad Hatters Luncheon and Fashion Show held in May helped to support much of the work that the club has accomplished through Lake County businesses and individuals who donated products and services for the raffles, Frazer stated.

The LWCC meets on the first Friday of each month from September through June. Meetings include a business meeting, luncheon and an educational, inspirational program. Annual dues are $20.
