LAKEPORT >> A Kelseyville man was arrested on charges of possession, transportation of and being under the influence of a controlled substance, as well as possession of marijuana Thursday.
At approximately 8:20 p.m., an LCSO narcotics detective reportedly saw Frederick Edward Schoefer, 53, or Kelseyville, driving a black jaguar coup erratically while heading westbound on Lakeport Boulevard in Lakeport, according the Lake County Sheriff”s Office (LCSO) Lt. Steve Brooks.
A records check of the vehicle”s license plate by LCSO central dispatch reportedly found that the vehicle”s registration was expired and suspended, Brooks stated.
The detective stopped the vehicle in the 800 block of Lakeport Boulevard and deployed his K-9 to search the exterior of the vehicle, according to Brooks. During the search, the canine reportedly detected the odor of a controlled substance numerous times.
Schoefer allegedly declined a consensual search of his person or the vehicle and became confrontational when the detective told him the K-9 had detected narcotics, Brooks stated.
A search of the vehicle reportedly found a small amount of marijuana in the ashtray, as well as 17 packages of methamphetamine, which totaled 14.7 grams, according to Brooks.
Schoefer was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance for sale, transportation of, and being under the influence of a controlled substance, as well as possession of less than one ounce marijuana, Brooks stated. He was transported to the Lake County Hill Road Correctional Facility and booked. His bail is set at $35,000.00.
