You could look it up
According to Tim Snider”s June 3 letter there is not one single documented case in modern recorded history where an individual has had a miraculous encounter with the superhero that lives in the sky even though such encounters were supposedly common thousands of years ago.
On Sunday, August 19, 1945 at around 9 a.m. in Gold Beach, Oregon, Christian missionary Roy Slaybaugh was pulling out of his driveway when two boys, 15 and 19 years old on a crime spree that began at their home in Chicago, smashed their stolen car into his car during a high speed chase.
Roy was transported to the Gold Beach Hospital. He was near death. The doctor told Roy”s wife, Rose, who was also a Christian missionary, that there wasn”t much chance of saving him. Roy had a compound fracture of the skull. His left eye was severed. Cerebral fluid was draining from both places. The membranes in his throat had collapsed. His face and tongue were badly swollen from hitting the steering wheel making it hard to breathe and his jaw was broken.
Much later Roy gave a testimony of his experience. He said that a masculine-looking heavenly being, taller than an ordinary man appeared at the foot of his bed. His hair was gold in color and hung in ringlets around his head. He was wearing a white robe that hung in pleats from his shoulders to the floor and gathered at the waist by a golden band with tassels hanging down his right side. The heavenly being reached over and touched Roy and said “I have come to raise you again.” At this same moment Pastor T.L. Thuemler, from Crescent City, anointed Roy with oil by touching his forehead where there was no bandage. A powerful shudder went through Roy”s entire body.
Long story short, his destroyed eye and ear were miraculously restored. Roy never felt any pain during the ordeal and made a full recovery on the same day as the anointment.
