LUCERNE >> An instructional workshop on planning before a medical crisis strikes will be held on July 23 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Lucerne Alpine Senior Activity Center in Lucerne.
The workshop will cover a list of choices a person should consider before a medical crisis occurs and provide a legal form for making those choices known to the medical community. Estate planning attorney Mary Heare Amodio will explain the purpose and the need for the legal form known as an Advanced Health Care Directive.
Director of Medical Affairs at Sutter Lakeside Hospital Diane Pege will talk about what happens in the emergency room in a medical crisis and the benefit of having an Advanced Health Care Directive on file with the hospital. Discussion will include how to communicate with a doctor about medical treatment options and talking with families about the choices people have made.
The workshop is sponsored by Hospice Services of Lake County.
