UPPER LAKE >> A tailgate meeting, co-sponsored by University of California (UC) Cooperative Extension, Lake County and the Lake County Winegrape Commission (LCWC), will be held Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to noon.
The meeting will feature guest speakers U.S. Department of Agriculture and UC Davis plant pathologist Kendra Baumgartner, who will lead a discussion on trunk diseases, and UC Cooperative Extension”s viticulture adviser Glenn McGourty, who will share observations on winter injury in vineyards.
Attendees will also travel to Big Valley to observe wood diseases in sauvignon blanc vineyards with LCWC research and education chair Broc Zoller leading the way. Baumgartner will discuss diagnosing and treating wood diseases.

Attendees should meet at the driveway to Larry Rogers” vineyard, which is located on Elk Mountain Road about a half of a mile outside of Upper Lake, heading north. The driveway does not have an address marker but is the first driveway on the left after passing the CAL FIRE station. Attendees should look for the LCWC sign.
