LOWER LAKE >> Six Sigma Ranch and Winery held its fifth annual Six Sigma Cowboy Cook-off on July 12.
The grounds were filled to capacity as guests arrived in festive costumes, according to Jacquelyn Farrington, hospitality and direct-to-consumer sales.
“It felt like a step back in time to see cowboys and cowgirls surround the historic old stagecoach stop that doubles as the Six Sigma Ranch tasting room,” Farrington stated.
Four members of the Six Sigma Ranch team competed in the cook-off. The competition began at 2:30 p.m.
The event also featured Six Sigma wines and music by Michael Barrish.
After the competition, attendees were able to cast their votes for the cook-off winner.
The participating cooks were Christian Ahlmann, vice president of Six Sigma Ranch, who roasted a whole pig; Walt Campbell, direct-to-trade manager, who made pork tenderloin sliders; Matt Hughes, winemaker, who made salmon tacos, and Lauren Wulff, wine club manager, who made Paella.
After the votes were counted, Campbell was crowned the winner.
A costume contest was also held and the winners received gift certificates for Pinzgauer tours of the 4,300-acre ranch, giving them the opportunity to experience the ranch and see the highest altitude vineyard on the property, the Diamond Mine Vineyard, Farrington stated.
Kaj and Else Ahlmann, proprietors of Six Sigma Ranch “are pleased to share the ranch with so many people — from old friends who come every time we invite them, to new visitors who take in the scenery for the first time,” Else stated.
