County officials gave the keys to the Lucerne Castle Hotel to Marymount California University (MCU) Friday in a small ceremony. ”This is a big day,” MCU Executive Director Michelle Scully said. ”It has been a long walk of faith and vision.” The county-owned hotel, commonly known as “The Castle,” was acquired by the former redevelopment agency in 2010. The facility, featuring 50,000 square feet on seven acres, first opened in 1928. Lake County Superintendent of Schools Wally Holbrook, Lake County Deputy Administrative Officer Alan Flora, County Administrator Matt Perry, as well as members of MCUs Southern California Campus staff attended the ceremony.
