LAKE COUNTY >> Volunteers are needed before, during and after the Veterans Stand Down/Homeless Resource Fair on Sept. 10 and 11 in Clearlake.
The two-day event will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the American Legion Post 437.
The Lake and Mendocino counties Stand Down event will offer veterans access to a wide range of services. These services include on-site medical and dental attention, as well as on-site enrollment in health care and supplemental nutrition programs. Employment and educational counselling and benefits, legal services and mental health counselling will also be available.
Homeless and at-risk services include clothing, food boxes and housing assistance. These services, provided at the Stand Down/Homeless event, are in place to honor the time, the effort and the sacrifices that has been given to the country, according to Kristina Grogan, Mendocino County Health and Human Services Agency community coordinator.
Volunteers are needed prior to the event in Mendocino to help with material collection and organization. During the Clearlake event, a variety of service opportunities are available from serving lunch, helping stock material and the after event clean up. Donations for the event are also being accepted.
